SURPLUS Community Zine Submission Terms & Conditions (S.O.R)
By submitting a Community Zine to SURPLUS (S.O.R), you acknowledge and agree to the following:
1. Eligibility
- You are the creator of the submitted work or have all necessary rights and permissions to sell and display the submitted zine.
2. Submission Limits
- A maximum of 10 copies of any title may be submitted per contributor.
- All submissions must arrive at the nominated drop-off location or by post before the advertised submission deadline.
- Late submissions may be refused at SURPLUS's sole discretion.
3. Sale Price
- Zines must be nominated at one of the following fixed retail prices:
- $5
- $10
- $15
- $20
- Prices cannot be changed after submission has been accepted.
4. Consignment
- Submitted zines are supplied on a consignment basis.
- Contributors will only be paid for copies that are sold.
- Payment will be made after the event within a reasonable processing period using the payment details provided by the contributor.
5. Unsold Zines
- Any unsold zines will be made available for collection from the nominated store location. If mail submission, unsold zines will be sent to either Sydney or Melbourne store.
- Contributors will be notified of the collection period.
- SURPLUS will not package or ship unsold items.
- Any zines not collected within the advised collection period may be deemed abandoned and may be donated, recycled or otherwise disposed of at SURPLUS's discretion.
6. Shipping & Delivery
- Contributors are responsible for all shipping costs, postage and packaging associated with sending their submissions.
- SURPLUS is not responsible for delays caused by postal or courier services.
- It is the contributor's responsibility to ensure submissions arrive before the deadline.
7. Risk & Liability
- Contributors submit and consign their zines entirely at their own risk.
- SURPLUS, its organisers, staff, volunteers, contractors and venue partners accept no responsibility or liability for:
- lost, delayed or stolen deliveries;
- damaged packages received in transit;
- submissions that fail to arrive before the deadline;
- theft, accidental damage or loss occurring during transport, storage, display or handling, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
- Contributors are responsible for arranging their own insurance if they require coverage for submitted items.
8. Display & Handling
- SURPLUS reserves the right to handle, display, merchandise and relocate submitted zines as reasonably required during the event.
- Reasonable care will be taken when handling submissions; however, minor wear resulting from customer browsing or event display may occur.
9. Content
You warrant that your submission:
- does not infringe any copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights;
- is not unlawful, defamatory or otherwise prohibited by Australian law;
- does not contain material that SURPLUS reasonably considers offensive, discriminatory, hateful or inappropriate for the event.
SURPLUS reserves the right to refuse or remove any submission at its sole discretion.
10. Promotional Use
You grant SURPLUS a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to photograph or film your submitted zines and use those images for the promotion of SURPLUS, including on social media, websites and future marketing materials. Copyright in the zine itself remains with the creator.
11. Event Changes
SURPLUS reserves the right to alter event dates, submission deadlines, collection dates or event arrangements where reasonably necessary.
12. Privacy
Personal information collected as part of this submission will be used solely for administering the Community Zine initiative, contacting contributors and processing payments, unless otherwise required by law.
13. Acceptance
By submitting this form, you confirm that:
- you have read and understood these Terms & Conditions;
- all information provided is accurate;
- you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
